我是装了个REDHAT9.0,我的主机配置是(XP1900+,双敏KT333.DDR256)
我在REDHAT中打开网页,打开OPENOFFICE等都很慢(比我平时用WONDOWS慢好多),不知大家用时是不是这样.还是我自己部电脑的问题,或配置出了问题?
请前辈们请教,谢谢.

one of openoffice's known problem is its startup speed.
which browser u use? mozilla? u can try to use phoenix, which is much faster.
u can find some benchmark tools to test u linux speed. u cpu speed should be enought, memory is a little short for kde or gnome, a what type of disk u use? can u use iozone or bonnie to test u hd speed?
u can install a gkrellm to monitor u system activities.

many stuff on system measurement, tuning, and optimization, u can try to read some.

this is why linux is more robust than windows. for server purpose, gui is useless and consume u many resources.
and u can not say gui under linux is slow than windows. many games can run faster on linux, like quake. my interest is mainly on io, file system. so i do not know much about graphic performance and can not explain why.

可以说，除了图形界面，其它方面Linux都比Windows要快。但是往往用户要求的只是图形界面快，可以说这就是为什么Linux在桌面市场上一直竞争不过Windows的原因之一，既是Linux的一个优点，也是Linux的一个缺点，如果有一个两全的方法该多好！

以用户的需要为中心，这是Windows之所以成功的最重要的原因。

his hardware is different with yours. so different people have different feelings. that is why we need benchmark tools to test the system performance. if u feel u system is fast enough, then enjoy it.
